2009 January Newsletter - Giving Back in 2008In business as in life you benefit in kind from the good deeds you perform. That’s why Nolan Ryan’s All-Natural Beef feels it is our corporate responsibility to give back and support the communities that support us. Last year, we supported several organizations and community events as we worked to live out this philosophy. Given the challenging times ahead in our economy and in our world, we know everyone's efforts can help make a difference. ALS Association Nolan Ryan’s All-Natural Beef is a sponsor of the ALS Association. Our participation has helped support the North Texas ALS Chapter’s walk programs that generate needed funds for patient service programs and international research into this illness that is also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Walks were conducted in October in Dallas, Fort Worth and Lubbock. Miracle League Field of Dreams, held annually at the home of the Round Rock Express, is a culinary event that benefits the Miracle League and its mentally and physically challenged youth activities, the Nolan Ryan Foundation and its multiple youth, education and community development activities, and the Wine & Food Foundation of Texas that provides grants and scholarships for culinary students. This year, Nolan Ryan’s All-Natural Beef and Earl Campbell’s Sausage were featured Aug. 21 in a “Clash of the Titans” culinary competition pitting top chefs against one another. Texas Mushroom Festival The Texas Mushroom Festival Oct. 25 helped promote and expand tourism to the important East Texas agricultural community of Madisonville, TX. Nolan Ryan’s All-Natural Beef not only sponsored the event, our beef tenderloin, encrusted in a porcini mushroom crust, was the featured entrée at the festival’s gala dinner. Houston Culinary Festival Also on Oct. 25, we helped the Houston West Chamber of Commerce promote its area with a culinary festival called “Zest in the West.” The event raises scholarship funds to train and develop leaders for the West Houston community. To help the effort, we sponsored nationally known cooking celebrity Marie Hejl at the cooking demonstration that headlined the event. Back to newsletter. |
