Know where your food comes from.
Cattle enrolled in Nolan Ryan’s Premium Reserve program are born, raised and harvested here in the U.S.A. They are source-verified which means we know the ranch they are from and how they are raised. These cattle are born and raised on grass pastures and raised by their mothers. When they reach weaning age - around 7 months of age and 500 pounds in weight - they are moved to other grass pastures where they are grown on grass. They remain here until they reach a weight of approximately 750 pounds and an age of 15 to 18 months (this can change depending on available rainfall and climatic conditions). At this point they are moved to a feed lot for grain feeding. This stay is usually around 140 days and concludes when the animal reaches a harvest weight of approximately 1250 pounds.
Know how the beef was raised.We work with progressive ranching families to provide our feedlots with cattle that meet our strict requirements and are raised under exceptional care. At the time of harvest, we have absolute control over the animal handling and production practices. Content and well cared for cattle produce the best beef. We are absolutely committed to ensuring that all cattle in our program are treated with respect at all times.
Know what the cattle are fed.
- No hormones. All animals have naturally occurring hormones, but beef cattle in the Premium Reserve program never receive any added hormone implants or feed additives in their diets.
- No antibiotics. We do not feed or administer antibiotics to cattle in the Premium Reserve program. While we would never deny care to a sick animal, they are removed from the program if treated with an antibiotic.
- All-vegetarian diet. Premium Reserve cattle receive a 100% vegetarian diet from birth. During the finishing phase, their feed is regularly tested for pesticide residue.
Know your food is safe. We have a rigorous control program to ensure there are no residues of any kind. Nolan Ryan’s Premium Reserve beef is harvested in a single, state-of-the-art harvesting facility overseen by highly trained Quality Assurance staff who work to guarantee our beef is safe and wholesome.
